Frances Duggan's Profile

Biography:

It is my privilege and my pleasure to assist individuals, couples, and families in addressing and resolving the effects of overwhelming experience in their lives. I provide assistance in regard to a wide range of experiences from severely traumatic events to more commonplace life challenges. My areas of particular strength lie in the areas of trauma resolution, grief and loss, death and dying, and in non-pharmacological approaches to stress reduction and pain management.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years experience I have had the honor of working extensively with children, adolescents, and adults (including senior adults) within both the mental health and addiction fields. As well as being well versed in regard to traditional (or mainstream) psychotherapy, I have an enormous appreciation for alternative and complementary approaches to mental health care and possess training and experience in multiple modalities including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), SE (Somatic Experiencing), NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Ericksonian Hypnosis, and Brainspotting.

In addition, I possess significant experience in the development and oversight of mental health service delivery programs and the provision of mental health consultation services to individuals, groups, and schools. Clinical supervision is available both for mental health professionals and for those preparing for social work licensure.

I maintain a private practice on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and also enjoy serving as the Treatment Service Coordinator for Trauma/EMDR for the National Institute for the Psychotherapies.
